Studying Moon Phases at Renaissance Charter School at Wellington

Students were exploring the planets and natural space objects in science this week. In order to grasp the concept of Earth’s moon phases, the class took notes first. Students learned how Earth gained a moon, the fact that each moon phase has a name, and the light was a reflection from the Sun’s rays. Then students watched a video showing the changing phases. Students were then asked to model four moon phases using Oreo’s. They had to label each phase with an accurate description. They used the cream from the cookies to model the illuminated portion of four phases they chose.
